Grading of Records

Mint M: The record is as new

Item is Mint if it is New and Sealed

Excellent EX: The record is nearly perfect, there is no damage or visible surface marking. The Cover and inserts are undamaged.

Excellent Minus EX - : Any damage is confined to light surface marking.
Such damage although visible under bright light will not have any effect on the sound reproduction.
The cover and any inserts may show only light creasing, browning or foxing due to dampness but they are all present and intact 

Very Good VG - : The record has obviously been played a lot, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite surface marks or some light scratches.
The Cover may be lightly creased or show minor ringwear 

 

Labels and Pressings

All listed available recordings have been displayed in a manner which is both easy to the eye as well as giving a brief description of the record label.

For the Decca SXL series the original label is described as “Wide Band”:
These are all English pressings!
ED1 is the first wide band label: “Original Recording” between 9 & 12 o’clock
ED2 is the second wide band label with “Made in England” between 9 & 12 o’clock and a groove pressing
ED3 is the third wide band label with “Made in England” between 9 & 12 o’clock without a groove.

Many later Decca Pressings (Both English & Dutch) are listed after the SXL series.

This will include the Series-Ace of Diamonds-The World of Great Classics-Eclipse Label

2nd Label Red Semi
3rd Label M/n

EMI ASD Series

1st Label :G/c
2nd Label : 1st Semi
3rd Label :Dog in a Stamp  B/w or Col Band
4th label : Large Dog

All original unless otherwise stated. All other labels are listed with a brief description given against each.

Many other labels will be listed such as : Turnabout-Nonsutch-Philips-CBS-CFP-Nixa & Saga
